Motor Carriers

Dispute a score or correct your record

If you operate a motor carrier and believe your FRED Score, grade, a flag on your profile, or your company details are wrong, use this page. We read every submission and respond within 30 days.

Two different kinds of correction

Almost every dispute falls into one of two buckets, and they have different remedies. Knowing which one you're in will save you a lot of time.

1. The underlying federal data is wrong

A crash that wasn't yours, an inspection recorded against the wrong USDOT number, a violation that was dismissed, a wrong power-unit count or address on your MCS-150.

Fleetidy cannot change this. We publish what FMCSA publishes. The record has to be corrected at the source, through FMCSA's DataQs system:

File a DataQs challenge

Once FMCSA accepts the correction it flows into Fleetidy automatically at our next data refresh (weekly for census data; monthly for safety events, which is FMCSA's own publication cadence). You can still tell us below that a challenge is pending — we'll note it on your record.

2. Our model or our handling is wrong

The federal data is right, but we've drawn the wrong conclusion from it. For example:

  • Your grade doesn't reflect events we're attributing to you in error
  • You've been flagged as a possible chameleon carrier (a reincarnation of a shut-down carrier) and that's incorrect
  • Your fleet is being compared against the wrong size cohort
  • A warning on your profile (stale MCS-150, implausible mileage, intrastate-only) is wrong or out of date
  • We've merged or confused your record with another carrier's

This we can and will fix. Use the form below.

What happens after you submit

  1. We log your submission and send it to our review queue.
  2. We re-run your carrier through the scoring engine and compare the result against the source FMCSA records we hold for you.
  3. We respond to you by email within 30 days with what we found — including when we conclude the score is correct as published, and why.
  4. If we made an error, we correct it and the corrected score appears at the next refresh. Where the error affected a flag, we remove the flag immediately.

A note on what the FRED Score is: it is Fleetidy's analytical opinion derived from public FMCSA data. It is not an FMCSA safety rating, and it does not affect your operating authority. Disagreement with our methodology is not by itself an error — but we'll still read it, and our full method is published at /methodology and in the scoring white paper so you can check our work.

Submit a dispute

Helps us find the exact record. Leave blank if you don't have it.

This is where we send our response.

What are you disputing?

Be as specific as you can: dates, inspection or crash report numbers, the exact flag or figure you're contesting, and what you believe the correct value is. If you've already filed a DataQs challenge, tell us the RDR number and we'll track it.

We use what you submit only to investigate and respond to this dispute. See our Privacy Policy.

Prefer email?

You can write to us directly at disputes@fleetidy.com. Please include your USDOT number and the specific issue — the same information the form asks for — so we can start without a round trip.
